Have you ever bought a piñata from the party store, and were disappointed because come party time it just wouldn’t break open? That’s because they are made from corrugated cardboard. And the shape of the piñata with hard angles doesn’t help because they reinforce the entire piñata.
Store bought pinatas take such force that young kids don’t really have a chance. It’s not uncommon for when all of the kids have had their go, dad finally jumps in with a baseball bat to get the darn thing to break...
Real papier maché piñatas will form cracks and dents and eventually break open. Even little kids can break 'em!
And they are beautiful!
